WhyTwoKay, WayToGo

Last month twenty-five years ago the Y2K computer bug was threatening armageddon on 31 December, by melting down the world’s computers at midnight, when they ticked over into the new century. The national airline, where I was still gainfully employed, went to great pains to ensure that planes didn’t fall out of the sky and other systems continued.

Robert Moran (SMH) reckons that we missed a golden opportunity to unleash the bug and improve our lives as a result. Inter alia, he explains convincingly that: ‘If Y2K had happened, industry would be thriving. No computers means no factory closures means no Donald Trump, it’s a simple equation.’ It’s hard to argue against. I commend The Verdict for its original insights.
