Shoot First!

The Shooters Party has stymied NSW Government plans to privatise lotteries as punishment for the Government’s rejection of legislation to allow hunting in national parks, including for native animals. In a fit of pique the government locked the upper house of parliament, the first such trick in 180 years, and members have taken an early winter break, but that’s another story. Only in Australia could we imagine trading shooting for gambling rights – what an amazing nexus!

NSW’s unique domicile for a Shooters Party in a legislative assembly is something to be proud of. Understandably SP supporters get bored with shooting road signs and feral animals. What better place than national parks to broaden shooter horizons, particularly as they’re full of furry little animals, some of whom hop about and are not easy targets.

Dead kangaReports abound of a new offshoot (ha!) party with a more radical agenda gathering members around the country, including in Gwalia (photo), to run at the next election as the ‘Indoor Shooters Party’.
Watch out all those house pets!

  1. Kookynie! Fucking Kookynie! Jeezus .. makes Gwalia look like the metro area! The “town” is a nothing and you, sir, are a nobody … a blathering, misinformed, ill-educated, self-aggrandizing prat. Perhaps if you stepped away from the bottle of red occasionally you would be able to form an intelligent, coherent, semi-literate opinion.

  2. You seem to have misinterpreted what the shooters party is trying to do like most people that jumped on that bandwagon.

Their not trying to introduce anything that cant be done at the moment just to streamline existing laws, and in the case of Kangaroo harvesting they don’t intend like so many of you have miss read (or not read) to hunt them in National parks what their aim is actually has to do with changing the current “shoot and leave” culling permits that farmers get so that the hunters that they already endorse to cull them, can actually use the meat for human and animal consumption rather then just let it rot where they fell.

This is a great bill for the environment as well as for the Law abiding hunters that pass the requirements needed to gain the 2nd license needed to benefit from this bill.

  3. The Shooters Party was withholding its support for the Government’s bill till the last minute as they wrangled over their bill. I understand that’s politics, but it still looks crook!

I’m not in favour of selling lotteries either. Why not keep that cash cow’s milk flowing into government coffers for years to come.

  4. The Greens and independant senators withold their vote’s all the time to get what they want. The recent stimulis package was reduced by $50 and that money was sent to the Greens Murry river water scheem because of a certan senator’s refusal to vote with the govt.
TSP does it and suddenly it’s unethical? Please….
You should have a good look at the greens own political tactics before you pass your moral judgement the TSP.
